Hi, and welcome to my portfolio website! I am a 23-year-old, early-career engineer who graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Bioengineering). I have a strong interest in the medical device industry as well as the spine and orthopedic markets. I have experience in project engineering, anatomical modeling, and 3D printing/testing a wide variety of conceptual orthopedic fixtures for potential post-market use. These projects are visible in my projects section. I also plan to add more projects to this website throughout late 2025 and 2026, which I am currently developing. These projects include spinal orthoses, a spinal motion tracking system for these orthoses, and 3D-printed prosthetics (following PDAC recognition), as well as custom 3D-printed allografts/scaffolds.

Dating back to my youth in Central California, I have over a decade of experience utilizing engineering software; I used Autodesk in middle school and high school, and primarily SolidWorks in college. I am driven, self-motivated, and passionate about applying engineering techniques to healthcare, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes. I strive to bring positivity in and outside of any workplace I enter!

I'm always looking to connect with other driven, like-minded professionals in this space. Please feel free to contact me using the information provided!

Regarding the other pages of my website:

  • About: More information on my background and recent experiences.

  • Projects: Detailed project logistics as well as the processes that drove them.

  • Orthopedics Market: My research and thoughts on the current state of the market, as well as the future, in both spine and extremities.

  • Research: I linked PDFs of technical standards and articles in the medical device industry, taking notes on those listed and committing myself to exceptional knowledge of those pertinent to my projects and future.

Career Goals

  • Design: ANSYS, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, Fusion 360, Onshape, PTC Creo (Windchill), Siemens NX, SolidWorks (PDM)

  • Medical Imaging Processing: Materialise (Mimics, 3-matic, Orthoview), DICOM imaging and segmentation

  • Programming: Arduino IDE, C, C++, CUDA, Git, Java, JavaScript, LabVIEW, Linux, MATLAB (Simulink), PLC, Python (PyAnsys)

  • Machine Learning: TensorFlow, Pandas, PyTorch, Ultralytics YOLO, DeepLabCut

  • Manufacturing: 3D Printing (FDM, SLA, SLS: Bambu, Prusa, Formlabs), CNC Machines, CAM, Extrusion (Plastics and Polymers), GD&T, Laser Cutting,

Mill, Turn, Lathe, Waterjet, Mechanical Loading (Instron, MTS), Power Tools, Resin, Soldering, Pedicle Screws, Stainless Steel, Welding (TIG, MIG)

  • Additional Areas of Expertise: Anatomy, Biocompatibility, Biomechanics, Biomechanical Research, Machining, Musculoskeletal Dynamics, Orthopedic Design, Physiology, Regulatory Affairs, Orthopedic Implants, Medical Device Market Analysis, Rapid Prototyping, User Research

Skills

  • 2026: Earn Engineering-in-Training (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification as well as additional pertinent certifications pertinent to the medical device industry.

Earn CSWP (Certified SolidWorks Professional) Certification.

  • Earn an M.S. or MEng in Bioengineering or Biomedical Engineering with a focus on medical device product development.

  • Continue to progress up the senior technical track in either design or quality engineering within a medical device company, or transition into either marketing or product (project) management as it pertains to a particular product or project line I continue to gain expertise in and am drawn to.

  • Volunteering: I have experience shadowing several live surgeries and am familiar with the surgeon (clinical) workflow, as well as real-life device use cases. I want to continue lending a helping hand, whether it be in a paid (career) or unpaid capacity.

Design Philosophy

  • I believe in prioritizing a cross-functional approach to every project I approach, namely by prioritizing quality in every design. This involves identifying and mitigating risks, with a primary emphasis on ensuring the safety of systems and people.

  • I believe that prioritizing parameter identification (e.g., project constraints, regulatory/quality compliance) allows creativity to thrive and ultimately leads to optimal engineering outcomes in healthcare, as well as every industry, for that matter.
